Cellulitis in Horses: Early Recognition & Effective Management
The seminar series begins with a special appearance by Dr. Theresa Burns of The Ohio State University. This informative session will focus on cellulitis in horses — a potentially serious condition that can develop rapidly and requires prompt veterinary care.
Dr. Burns will cover how cellulitis occurs, common risk factors, early warning signs, and modern treatment approaches. Attendees will also learn preventative strategies and best practices for long-term management to help minimize recurrence and improve overall equine wellness.
March 7 | 3:00 PM – 5:00 PM
Understanding EPM: Prevention, Symptoms, and Treatment
Next in the series, Dr. Kathryn Timko will lead a deep dive into Equine Protozoal Myeloencephalitis (EPM), a neurological disease that affects horses across the United States.
This seminar will explore how EPM is contracted, common clinical signs, diagnostic tools, and current treatment protocols. Horse owners will walk away with a clearer understanding of how to reduce risk, recognize symptoms early, and take swift action if concerns arise.
March 14 | 3:00 PM – 5:00 PM
Equine Podiatry & Hoof Health Essentials
Hoof health plays a critical role in every horse’s comfort and performance. This seminar brings together equine podiatrist Dr. Audrey Busby and experienced farrier Todd Santoro for an in-depth look at modern hoof care.
Topics will include common hoof problems, preventative maintenance, trimming and shoeing strategies, and how proper hoof balance affects the entire musculoskeletal system. This session is ideal for owners looking to improve soundness, performance, and long-term durability in their horses.
March 28 | 3:00 PM – 5:00 PM
Equine Nutrition for Health, Performance, and Longevity
The series concludes with an engaging nutrition seminar led by Lilly Ehrman of Buckeye Nutrition.
Attendees will learn about balanced feeding programs, the role of forage, understanding supplements, and how proper nutrition supports growth, recovery, immune health, and performance at every stage of life. This session provides practical takeaways owners can immediately apply to their feeding routines.
